Ukraine Reports Russia Launched 728 Drones in Overnight Attack
In a statement, Ukraine’s Air Force confirmed that air defense systems intercepted 718 of the drones. Additionally, seven out of 13 missiles fired at various targets were also successfully neutralized.
“The main direction of the attack is Volyn, the city of Lutsk,” the Air Force noted.
Ivan Rudnytskyi, Governor of the Volyn region, said via Telegram that approximately 50 drones and five missiles were spotted over the northwestern territory, which borders Belarus and Poland.
Rudnytskyi stated that emergency crews were currently working to extinguish fires at warehouses belonging to a local enterprise and a nearby garage complex.
“As of now, there are no reports of injuries or deaths,” Rudnytskyi said.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service later confirmed in a Telegram update: “Firefighters extinguished the fire. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.”
Meanwhile, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced on X that it deployed Polish and allied aircraft over Polish airspace in response to the drone barrage in Ukraine.
The jets were later recalled “due to the reduced level of threat,” the command said.
As of now, Russian officials have not issued any statement regarding the attack.
Just last Friday, Kyiv reported a separate drone assault involving 539 unmanned aerial vehicles launched by Russia.
